Ball, Coors and City of Golden Team Up to Establish Recycling Drop-Off Center GOLDEN, Colo., Nov. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ball Corporation, Coors Brewing Company and the City of Golden today announced plans for a recycling drop-off center in Golden for commingled aluminum, glass, steel and PET and HDPE plastic containers (#1 and #2) as well as mixed paper. The recycling drop-off center will open Dec. 6 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The center will be located at the southeast corner of the Splash Aquatics Park parking lot, 3151 Illinois Street in Golden. Splash is owned and operated by the City of Golden Parks and Recreation Department. "There has never been an official budget to promote recycling education and collection in Golden, and in times of cutbacks it is even more difficult to establish funds for this purpose," said Fran Phillips, environmental specialist for the City of Golden. "By working together, Ball, Coors and the City of Golden will create a convenient place for city residents to bring their recyclables." Ball and Coors will pay the monthly collection costs and collection container rental fees for recyclable materials deposited at the new drop-off center. Tri-R Recycling will pick up and process the recyclable materials. The City of Golden will provide the center's location and oversee its operation with volunteer help from the Lookout Mountain Youth Center Student Council.
