Atmos Energys (NYSE: ATO) Sharing the Warmth program is ready to
aid customers who need assistance with their natural gas payments
this winter. The program helps persons with low-income, the elderly
and families with young children. Program funds are donated by
customers, Atmos Energy and its employees. Local energy assistance
agencies qualify and distribute the funds to customers in need.
Atmos Energy is a catalyst for improving the quality of life in
the communities it serves, said John Paris, president of Atmos
Energys Mid-Tex Division. We are asking customers to consider a
voluntary donation to help their neighbors who have fallen on hard
times to stay warm, healthy and safe this winter." Atmos Energy
customers can make a donation by checking an amount on the back of
their gas bill. They also can contribute online or by calling Atmos
Energys toll-free number at 1-888-286-6700. Even a dollar per
month can help those who need temporary relief from a bad
situation, added Paris. All donations stay in the community where
the customer lives. Those assisted by the Sharing the Warmth
program tend to be more vulnerable to illness, disease and
malnutrition and poor medical care. Many may put their health at
risk by leaving their furnaces off to avoid potentially high
natural gas bills. Paris reminds everyone to check on his or her
elderly relatives, friends and neighbors who may be in need during
winter weather. Atmos Energy will work with them on an individual
basis and can offer extensions on due dates, payment in
installments or refer them to energy assistance agencies. Atmos
Energys Mid-Tex Division serves about 1.5 million natural gas
utility customers in North, Central and East Texas. About Atmos
