A former Morgan Stanley Smith Barney brokerage team has jumped ship to Ameriprise in Birmingham, Ala.

The team of Angelo Ferlisi, Randy Laird, Bill Morris and Pearson Matthews managed $134 million with MSSB, according to Ameriprise. Team members report to Mayo Woodward, Ameriprise's Alabama area field vice president.

Minneapolis-based Ameriprise has about 2,300 brokers on its payroll, another 7,700 independents affiliated with its franchise unit and about 2,000 independents affiliated with its brokerage subsidiary Securities America.

MSSB is a joint venture between Morgan Stanley's (MS) private-client division and Citigroup Inc.'s (C) Smith Barney.
