Allstate (NYSE:ALL) announced today that it has increased the number of resources pre-positioned to respond to Hurricane Gustav, a potentially devastating storm rapidly approaching the Gulf Coast area. The company now has 15 Allstate Mobile Response Units pre-positioned near the anticipated impact areas with additional units on stand-by. Equipped with satellite phones, wireless data access, generators, bottled water and even teddy bears for kids, these units enable Allstate to help customers start the claims process immediately from the affected areas, even if basic utilities such as power, water and telecommunications are not yet available. More than 1,000 personnel have been assigned to Hurricane Gustav response. The Allstate National Catastrophe Team helps policyholders begin the claims process directly from the affected area and answer any questions following the storm.
