BOISE, Idaho and WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Washington Group International (NASDAQ:WGII) announced today the appointment of Larry Shaw as executive vice president of business development for the company's Defense Business Unit, headquartered in Arlington, Va. Shaw will be responsible for all business development, sales, and marketing activities in the implementation of the Defense unit's strategic growth plans. Shaw replaces Dennis Romano, who is retiring. Most recently, Shaw was president of the company's Infrastructure Business Unit. Previously, as executive vice president of business development for Infrastructure, he was responsible for new work opportunities ranging from infrastructure hardening in support of homeland security initiatives to transportation systems, dams, and other infrastructure internationally. Prior to that, he provided technical and management expertise to two Washington Group heritage companies -- Ebasco Services and Raytheon Engineers and Constructors. His experience in business development dates back to 1986, when he was named Ebasco's vice president of corporate marketing. He then served for seven years as vice president of marketing and business development for Raytheon Engineers and Constructors. Shaw earned a bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering and a master's degree in business administration from New York University.
