Credence's ASL 3000RF Test Systems Selected by Skyworks FREMONT,
Calif., Nov. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Credence Systems
Corporation , a leading provider of solutions from
design-to-production test for the worldwide semiconductor industry,
today announced that Skyworks Solutions, Inc. has purchased
multiple ASL 3000RF(TM) test systems. Skyworks, the industry's
leading wireless semiconductor company focused on radio frequency
and complete cellular system solutions for mobile communications
applications, will use the ASL 3000RF for engineering and
production module test of radio frequency integrated circuits
(RFICs). "We are pleased that a number of leading integrated device
manufacturers (IDMs), including Skyworks, have chosen the ASL
3000RF to address the significant technical and economic challenges
of today's wireless applications," said Dr. Graham Siddall,
Credence's chairman and chief executive officer. "This purchase
demonstrates our expanding presence and penetration into the
competitive wireless communications market. The ASL 3000RF's unique
MVNA(TM) technology, powerful architecture and unmatched value have
set a new standard in wireless test by offering class-leading
performance and throughput for the most complex RFIC devices." The
ASL 3000RF features Credence's patented modulated vector network
analysis (MVNA) technology, which allows S-parameter measurements
to be made with wideband, digitally modulated signals. MVNA creates
a test scenario that more closely resembles a device's end-use
environment, providing significantly better accuracy for wireless
applications. Additionally, the ASL 3000RF features a flexible and
scaleable architecture that allows customers to extend and upgrade
the system with analog, digital and enhanced RF instrumentation to
address emerging wireless devices and applications. With the
industry's most advanced RF instrumentation and a dedicated
PowerPC(TM) processor per receiver, the ASL 3000RF has been proven
to speed throughput by approximately thirty percent over more
expensive, competitive systems. About ASL 3000RF Credence's ASL
3000RF is a high-performance, mixed-signal, radio-frequency
integrated circuit (RFIC) test system for wideband, wireless
communications devices. Featuring the industry's most advanced RF
instrumentation, the ASL 3000RF is designed to meet the
increasingly complex test requirements of a new generation of RFICs
for wireless applications, including 802.11 WLAN, CDMA, and GSM.
The ASL 3000RF incorporates advanced capabilities, including
Credence's patented MVNA technology. The system features a
flexible, scaleable architecture that provides a cost-effective way
to easily extend and upgrade the system with analog, digital, and
enhanced RF test capabilities to meet emerging wireless
requirements. About MVNA Credence's MVNA technology is the
industry's first major technology breakthrough development in
S-parameter measurements in thirty years. For many RF and microwave
engineers, the measurement of S-parameters remains a fundamental
method of characterizing high-frequency devices, but the use of
continuous wave signals to take these measurements leads to
complications in leading-edge wireless applications. MVNA
technology allows these measurements to be made with wideband,
digitally modulated signals, creating a test scenario that more
closely resembles a device's end-use environment and provides
significantly better accuracy for wireless applications. This
improved accuracy enables engineers to reduce guardbands in
production, leading to higher device yield and faster
time-to-profit. About Skyworks Skyworks Solutions, Inc. is the
industry's leading wireless semiconductor company focused on RF and
complete cellular system solutions for mobile communications
applications. The company is focused on providing front-end
modules, RF subsystems and cellular systems to handset, WLAN and
