Government Application Developer Selects Pervasive Database With
Advanced Security Features BS&A Software - Equalizer Software
Systems Is Upgrading Its 3,500 Users To Pervasive.SQL V8, Citing
Performance Increases and Enhanced Security Features AUSTIN, Texas,
Nov. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pervasive Software(R) Inc. , a
leading provider of data management solutions powering the success
of application developers worldwide, today announced Bellefeuil,
Szur & Associates (BS&A Software - Equalizer Software
Systems), Michigan's leading developer of software applications for
the government sector, has expanded its relationship with
Pervasive, becoming a new OEM partner, and plans to upgrade its
entire customer base to the latest version of the Pervasive.SQL
database, version 8 (V8). "We conducted a series of benchmarking
tests and saw increased performance in the range of 30 to 40
percent, when comparing an earlier version of the database (Btrieve
6.15) to Pervasive.SQL V8," said Tim Giesen, vice president,
BS&A Software. "We also expect to benefit from reduced support
costs realized through the support of only one database, as well as
through V8's increased stability." Pervasive.SQL combined with the
newly available Security Feature Pack (version 8.5), which is a
free upgrade to Pervasive.SQL V8, offers a unified security model
across the various data access methods, enabling advanced control
and rights management at the data level. The latest database
edition also provides enhanced encryption of data during
transmission and storage. These features improve the integrity of
the data by reducing operating system and network data
vulnerabilities. "Security at the data storage level is critical
for all of our applications -- more than 15 different ones that
collectively represent an end-to-end software solution for state,
local and county governmental units," Giesen said. "Our customers
will appreciate the opportunity to take advantage of these advanced
features." "Increased performance, stability and security, along
with lower support costs, are what our customers have come to
expect from Pervasive," said Suaad Sait, vice president, marketing,
Pervasive Software. "In response to the needs voiced by the
independent software vendor marketplace, we have delivered a
unified security model around our core database, and BS&A
Software customers will be some of the first to experience these
additional benefits." Pervasive.SQL V8 Security single seat desktop
workgroup engines are immediately available and priced at US $25.
Pricing for full client/server engines starts at US $845 for a
six-user license. Volume discounts and upgrade pricing are also
available. For more information on BS&A Software, go to
