(NASDAQ:SIGM), a leader in digital media processing for consumer electronics, has selected ISSI's storage media hub Flash card reader device for their portable media player (PMP) reference design. This new portable media player adds Flash card reader functionality to the PMP and allows pictures, movies, or music to be played from different Flash cards, in addition to the built-in hard disk drive. ISSI's storage media hub Flash card reader controller, the IC1100B, complies with the USB1.1 Full Speed specification and supports standard PC card ATA and true IDE Host / ATAPI device interfaces. Flash media cards in all formats including SmartMedia, Security Digital, Multimedia Card, CompactFlash, Memory Stick, Micro Drive and IDE hard disk drives are all supported by this device. Integrated with a Turbo 52 CPU core, 32Kbyte internal Flash, 4K SRAM, and ICSI in-house parallel port master/slave interface, the IC1100B provides the a flexible solution for adding Flash card reader functionality to any IDE or USB hosts.
