Mattson Technology Files Universal Shelf Registration Form With the SEC

Mattson Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: MTSN), a leading supplier of
advanced process equipment used to manufacture semiconductors,
announced today that it has filed a universal shelf registration
statement on Form S-3 with the Securities and Exchange Commission
("SEC"). The shelf registration statement is intended to provide
the Company with financial flexibility to raise capital from the
offering of up to $75 million of common stock, preferred stock,
warrants, depository shares, units and/or debt securities,
conducted in one or multiple offerings while the shelf registration
statement is effective. Mattson Technology does not have any
immediate plans to offer or sell its securities under the shelf
registration statement.
A registration statement relating to these securities has been
filed with the SEC but has not yet become effective. These
securities may not be sold nor may offers to buy be accepted prior
to the time that the registration statement becomes effective. Any
