•    Lam Research Corp. (NASDAQ:LRCX) agreed to acquire Novellus systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:NVLS) in a stock-swap transaction valued around $3.3 billion. Following the announcement, shares of Novellus rallied 16.34% to end the day at $40.37

•    Japan’s Fujifilm Holdings Corp. plans to acquire ultrasound-equipment maker SonoSite, Inc. (NASDAQ:SONO) in a deal worth $955 million

•    Share prices of Nordson Corp. (NASDAQ:NDSN) fell 9.21% after the sealant maker’s first-quarter outlook came in below the Street’s expectations
