Nation's largest private practice anesthesia group to implement practice management solution from IDX BURLINGTON, Vt., Sept. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IDX Systems Corporation (NASDAQ:IDXC) today announced that in the second quarter of 2005, North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA) selected IDX(R) Groupcast(R) to increase operational efficiencies and support their plans for significant expansion. NAPA is the first member of the Anesthesia Business Group (ABG) to avail itself of a master agreement with IDX, announced separately today. NAPA is the nation's largest private practice anesthesia group. Comprised of over three hundred anesthesiologists and one hundred Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, NAPA provides anesthesia services at eighteen hospitals in Maryland, New Hampshire and New York. The practice currently processes more than 500,000 transactions each year, and plans to expand its clinical anesthesia practice to several contiguous states, doubling its size in three to four years. "Groupcast will strengthen our overall business performance while providing the scalability we need to take our organization to the next level," said John L. Adessa, President of NAPA Management Services Corporation. "Anesthesia is a specialty that has demanding and exacting standards for how procedures are tracked, billed and reimbursed. In our extensive search for the right solution, the comprehensive anesthesia practice functionality built into Groupcast made it stand out. In addition, the robust reporting capabilities inherent in Groupcast will facilitate management decision support, enabling NAPA to grow and manage its operation." Through the use of Groupcast's integrated Advanced EDI Management Services, the organization will be able to increase its electronic connectivity with payors, thus increasing overall efficiencies. NAPA also anticipates the ability to provide its patients and physicians with an even higher level of customer service through the use of Groupcast's integrated document control and digital scanning features. "Over the next twenty-four months, NAPA anticipates a 20 - 25 percent increase in billing and collection efficiencies through the use of Groupcast," said Mr. Adessa. "NAPA's implementation of Groupcast will web-enable their system and provide them with automated revenue cycle management tools designed to expedite cashflow," said Stephen Gorman, President and General Manager, IDX Groupcast Operating Unit. "Groupcast will support NAPA's plans for growth, enabling them to increase profitability while continuing to provide superior customer service."
