Scotiabank (NYSE:BNS), one of the world's leading financial
institutions, and Cardtronics, Inc. (Nasdaq:CATM), the world's
largest owner/operator of retail ATMs and financial kiosks,
announced an agreement for Scotiabank to place its brand on 200
ATMs owned and operated by Cardtronics in high-profile retail
locations throughout Puerto Rico. The long-term deal is the first
between Cardtronics and Scotiabank and the first for Cardtronics in
Puerto Rico.
Scotiabank, based in Toronto, Canada, is Canada's most
international bank serving nearly 15 million customers in some 50
countries with locations across Canada, the Caribbean and Central
America, Mexico, South America, and Asia.
The Scotiabank logo will appear on Cardtronics ATMs in Puerto
Rico, expanding secure, convenient ATM access for its customers.
Initially, Scotiabank will brand approximately 40 ATMs and
collaborate with Cardtronics to brand an additional 160 ATMs in the
Puerto Rican market as Cardtronics installs those locations over
time.
In addition to Puerto Rico, the master ATM branding agreement
establishes the framework to brand additional ATMs in other
Scotiabank markets.
"Cardtronics is proud to add Scotiabank to our roster of
world-leading financial institution clients who rely on Cardtronics
to provide a superior ATM experience for their customers," said
Rick Updyke, President Global Services at Cardtronics. "Scotiabank
serves a tremendous customer base over a large international
footprint, a footprint that overlaps Cardtronics in many areas and
provides tremendous opportunity for expansion of the relationship
between our companies."
"As we looked to further expand our services for customers
living in and visiting Puerto Rico, Scotiabank carefully evaluated
Cardtronics and its ATM branding program and we are confident
Cardtronics will provide our customers with the exceptional service
and security they expect when they see the Scotiabank brand,"
stated Troy Wright, CEO of Scotiabank Puerto Rico. "The quality and
reliability of Cardtronics' ATM branding program has set the
standard in the industry for some time now, and the ability for
Cardtronics to grow with Scotiabank throughout Puerto Rico and
beyond adds a great deal of value."
Nearly 12,000 Cardtronics ATMs now carry the brands of financial
institutions such as Scotiabank, allowing these banks to quickly
expand their presence across a range of premier retail locations.
Through the ATM branding program, Scotiabank receives a powerful
means to reach current and prospective customers while improving
the service its customers receive by providing them with readily
available, fee-free access to their cash and other valuable
services.
