ARRIS Achieves Interoperability Testing With Nortel Networks
Softswitch DULUTH, Ga., March 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ARRIS
today announced that it has successfully completed interoperability
testing between its PacketCable(TM) and DOCSIS(R) 1.1 qualified
Cadant(R) C4(TM) CMTS and Touchstone(TM) MTAs and Nortel Networks*
PacketCable qualified Succession* Communication Server (CS) 2000
superclass softswitch series. Testing was conducted as part of
Nortel Networks VoIP and Multimedia interoperability testing
program, in which ARRIS participates. "By testing interoperability
with vendors like ARRIS, we apply Nortel Networks carrier-grade
experience in the lab to facilitate system integration before
real-world deployment," said Jim Dondero, vicepresident, marketing,
Wireline Networks, Nortel Networks. "It is a commitment to quality
and reliability that we deliver to all of our customers." The
Cadant C4 CMTS and Touchstone MTAs provide customer premise
termination for cable Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). Nortel
Networks softswitch and associated core products deliver the
features and call control functionality. Together, these products
will deliver full-featured primary line residential phone service,
completing cable operators' triple play (voice, video, and data).
The combined interoperable solution has been verified for both
domestic and international applications and is a field- proven
solution in-service in Charter Communications network since
