Operators assured of simple integration of the Keystone D5 into
present Digital Video networks and emerging M-CMTS architectures
SUWANEE, Ga., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ARRIS (NASDAQ:ARRS)
today announced that its Keystone D5 DMTS had completed successful
interoperability testing with four of the industry's leading Video
On Demand vendors: Broadbus, C-COR, Concurrent and Kasenna. The
testing of the ARRIS Keystone D5 and the four VOD servers occurred
at both ARRIS and other VOD Labs over the past few months, and
provides further proof of the Keystone D5's ability to support
MPEG2-TS digital video delivery today, while providing a software
migratory solution to the much-anticipated M-CMTS/DOCSIS(R) 3.0
platform. "We have successfully delivered hundreds of simultaneous
VOD streams from a variety of VOD servers, through the 48 QAM
channels of the ARRIS Keystone D5 to a variety of different set-top
boxes," noted Mike Caldwell, Senior Director of Product Management.
"This demonstrates the Keystone D5's advantage over legacy EdgeQAM
products available today, while also providing a simple software
upgrade to future M-CMTS platforms envisioned for near-future
network architectures." "Broadbus is excited to be working with
ARRIS to help customers take advantage of the massive changes
taking place in our industry," said Tom Kennedy, Sr. Director of
Marketing at Broadbus. "The Broadbus B-1 Video Server was built
from the outset to be an open, standards-based product that
provides the most powerful solution for Video On-Demand and
emerging Television On- Demand applications. This integration with
ARRIS is an example of how Broadbus continues to deliver on that
promise, and creates a solution that is designed to meet both
today's needs, and the emerging demands of tomorrow." "C-COR is
pleased to work with ARRIS in providing operators an integrated
solution for video delivery with a built-in migration path to
DOCSIS(R) 3.0," said David Andaleon, Director of Business
Development, C-COR Solutions. "Products based on open-standards
have been a hallmark at C-COR. We remain dedicated to expanding
choice and control for operators through our work with companies
such as ARRIS and through pre-integration of our nABLE(TM) platform
with VOD server vendors." "The ARRIS Keystone D5 interoperability
is another example of Concurrent's overall commitment to an open,
standards-based on-demand environment," said Tim Dodge,
Concurrent's Director of VOD Marketing. "The ARRIS efforts to drive
comprehensive integration for the Keystone D5 benefit the VOD
industry as a whole. The proven performance and reliability of
Concurrent's MediaHawk platform has been validated through a large
number of industry relationships and commercial deployments. The
Keystone D5 and the MediaHawk represent an ideal technology
combination for a variety of applications." "Being part of the
ARRIS Keystone D5 interoperability activities over the past few
months demonstrates the power of Kasenna's integrated content and
service delivery suite to enable service providers to rapidly and
cost-effectively deploy IPTV services," said Kasenna's Senior
Director of Product Management Mark Crandon. "Kasenna is excited to
be able to provide the market with our standards-based PortalTV
suite of solutions in conjunction with ARRIS." About ARRIS ARRIS
