Ameristar Casinos, Inc. Reopens Ameristar Vicksburg

LAS VEGAS, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ameristar Casinos,
Inc. (NASDAQ:ASCA) announced that it reopened its Vicksburg casino
at 4 p.m. Central time today after the facility was closed due to
Hurricane Katrina. The casino sustained only minimal damage and
power has been restored to the casino and hotel. The Heritage
Buffet will be open during its regular hours; however, other
restaurants will remain closed. Initial reports indicate that none
of the property's approximately 950 Team Members were injured,
although some may have had damage to their property. The Human
Resources staff continues to monitor the situation. Team Members
will be paid for the work time missed while the casino was closed.
The Ameristar Cares Sunshine Fund is available to Team Members who
may need to apply for emergency relief. "We are tremendously
relieved that our Team Members and our facility emerged relatively
unscathed from the hurricane," said Ray Neilsen, Ameristar Casino
Vicksburg General Manager. "Our thoughts are with our colleagues
and their family members on the Gulf Coast and in New Orleans."
