The following table lists unplanned and planned production outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.

Most recently, Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) said Monday that its Joliet, Illinois, refinery is running normally after repairs were made to the alkylation unit that leaked propane and sent two workers to the hospital on August 6.

And Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said Monday that process units at its Ardmore, Oklahoma, refinery were restarted. The refinery was taken off-line following a July 4 fire at a naphtha hydrotreater unit.

Valero also restarted a hydrocracker unit at its Benicia, California, refinery following planned repairs that began on August 3.

Flint Hill Resources notified environmental regulators over the weekend that it would be restarting its hydrocracker at its Corpus Christi, Texas refinery. Last month, Flint Hill notified the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality that the naptha hydrotreater, a hydrocracker and cyclic catalytic reformer will be shut as early as July 29; the work may also necessitate the shutdown a gas oil hydrotreater.

Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) reported over the weekend that it was restarting units at its Texas City, Texas refinery. The notice from state environmental regulators did not specify the units.

Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) said that a Thursday afternoon power surge upset units and caused a minor fire at its Baytown, Texas, refinery. "We're continuing to experience some flaring as we bring units back to normal operations," said refinery spokeswoman Neely Nelson.

Sunoco Inc. (SUN) plans to start maintenance at its Toledo, Ohio, refinery this month, the company said Thursday. The work will last until mid-September. The company will also take down its FCCU for one month this quarter at its Philadelphia refinery.

Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) had to shut down the 70,000 barrel a day fluid catalytic cracking unit at its Memphis, Tenn. refinery for repair, the company said Thursday. No word on when it will restart.

Exxon has restarted a hydrogen unit and part of a sulfur recover unit following planned work at its Torrance, Calif., refinery, the company said Wednesday.

Valero has restarted Wednesday a coking unit at its St. Charles refinery in Norco, La., after it was shut down because of a fire in July, the company said. Valero said Monday morning that it had restarted a crude unit at the refinery. Those units were shut by a fire on June 9. The coker will be operated at 50% when its restarted because of economic conditions. Valero has reduced coker rates at other refineries.

Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) said Aug. 3 that the completion of the expansion of its Detroit refinery will be slight delayed from the previous mid-2012 deadline.

Exxon Mobil (XOM) reported that a hydrocracker at its Beaumont, Texas refinery rest shut down after an upset on July 30, according to environmental regulators.

Tesoro Corp. (TSO) said July 30 its hydrocracking unit at its Golden Eagle refinery in Martinez, Calif. is restarting and should return to service in less than a week.

Total Petrochemicals USA (TOT) July 26 began 10 days of planned maintenance at a Sulfur Recovery Unit at its Port Arthur, Texas, refinery.
