and exciting era, Six Flags Waterworld Concord is daring sun-loving
thrill seekers to ride the ultimate storm by introducing the
extreme water thrill ride -- Tornado! This unique funnel-shaped
rainstorm, painted in a blue and yellow checkerboard pattern, is
the only one of its kind in Northern California and is slated to
touch down on opening day, May 21. Tubers will ride the ultimate
storm as they are sucked into Tornado, beginning their experience
75 feet in the air by blasting down a 132-foot long tunnel, leading
to the mammoth, open-ended 65-foot-wide funnel. The ride's
specially designed 4-person cloverleaf shaped tubes hug the inside
of the funnel, splashing back and forth on 5,000 gallons of
swirling water. The experience culminates in a waterfall splash;
right through the eye of the storm into a refreshing catch pool
below. A spectacular viewing platform upon approach lets anxious
tubers see all of the action up close. "In 2005, guests will soak
up the thrills and chills at the Bay Area's most popular water
park," said Joe Meck, vice president and general manager of Six
Flags Waterworld Concord. "The addition of the Six Flags brand of
fun and excitement, combined with the addition of an award-winning
water slide, will provide a unique experience for our visitors,
friends and families to enjoy together." Tornado's unique design
has received numerous distinctions, including the amusement
industry's 2003 Golden Ticket Award for Best Waterpark Ride and the
IAAPA 2003 Best New Product Award in the waterpark category.
Created by ProSlide Technology in Ottawa, Canada, Tornado joins a
collection of more than 20 splash water park attractions at the
10-acre paradise, including favorite family water raft rides in the
Big Kahuna and Honolulu Halfpipe. Now is the best time to become
part of the wet and wild excitement with a 2005 Season Pass for the
incredibly low price of $54.99. The 2005 Season Pass also provides
limitless fun at Six Flags Marine World, where guests can touch and
