Chairman's AGM statement

Vocalis  Group plc ("Vocalis"), the speech recognition telephony company  held
its  Annual  General Meeting in Cambridge today.  Roy Cotterill,  Chairman  of
Vocalis, in welcoming shareholders to the AGM commented:

"Vocalis continues to make progress, both in marketing and further development
of  our new Internet products.  As shareholders will be aware SpeecHTML  is  a
Vocalis  designed  product  which enables interactions  with  Websites  via  a
telephone  rather  than  a computer.  This allows Website  owners  to  provide
information  published  on their Website to anyone  with  a  telephone.   Also
recently  launched,  the  Vocalis SpeechMail product allows  e-mail  users  to
access their e-mails from any telephone.

The proceeds from the fundraising are being used for the marketing and capital
expenditure necessary to progress further our Internet products and a number 
of
opportunities have already emerged.  The Nationwide Building Society, sponsors
to  Divisions  1,  2  and  3 of the English Football  League,  intend  to  use
SpeecHTML in conjunction with their new football internet site.  It is planned
that  the  service will be ready for testing in September 1999.  In  addition,
our recently announced pilot with Freeserve is progressing well.

The marketing of our other speech recognition products continues and we expect
to win further orders soon.

Vocalis  continues  to  be  a  leading name in the global  speech  recognition
industry and our products are delivering services to customers worldwide.

Finally  I  would like to extend my thanks to Dr Hermann Hauser  and  Dr  John
Westhead  who  will  both retire from the Board following the  Annual  General
Meeting."

All the resolutions proposed at the AGM were duly passed.
