The  board of Ted Baker plc was yesterday notified that Lindsay  Page  a
director of the above company had purchased 5,000 ordinary 5p shares  on
8  June 1998 at a price of 166p per share.  Following this purchase  his
total beneficial holding has increased to 220,340 ordinary shares, which
includes 15,000 shares held as both a trustee and beneficiary.

The  increased  holding represents 0.53% of the company's  issued  share
capital.
