Notification of director's interests: Companies Act s329

The trustees of the Christian Salvesen PLC Qualifying Employee Share Ownership
Trust (the "QUEST") notified the Company on 11 May 2001 that they transferred
36,650 Christian Salvesen ordinary shares on 11 May 2001 to participants in
the Christian Salvesen PLC Savings-Related Share Option Scheme 1997, following
the exercise of their options.  

Following this transaction, the trustees of the QUEST hold a total of 132,894
Christian Salvesen PLC ordinary shares in which E.J. Roderick and P.G.Aspden,
as directors of Christian Salvesen PLC have an interest as potential
beneficiaries.  (The QUEST is a trust established to distribute shares to
employees of the Christian Salvesen Group on the exercise of options granted
under the Christian Salvesen PLC Savings-Related Share option Scheme 1997).
