                         AMTEL-CHERNOZEMYE SIGNS $63 MILLION 
                        AGREEMENT WITH LINCAS EXPORT SERVICES

                Amtel-Vredestein unit buys state-of-the art equipment 
             for its new Voronezh-II tyre factory from Siemens subsidiary

Amsterdam, the Netherlands - Amtel-Vredestein N.V. (LSE:AMV), a pan-European
tyre producer incorporated under the laws of the Netherlands with operating
facilities in Russia and the Netherlands, today announced that its OJSC Amtel-
Chernozemye unit in Voronezh, Russia signed a $63 million agreement with a
Siemens subsidiary, Lincas Export Services GmbH, to purchase equipment for its
Voronezh-II tyre factory.

According to the agreement, Lincas will supply equipment from 20 leading
European producers, including Harburg Freudenberger Maschinenbau GmbH (Germany),
VMI (Holland) and Comerio Ercole (Italy) and Troester (Germany). The deal
includes a wide range of equipment, from rubber mixing to final tyre production,
assuring 100% quality control.

"We are very happy to announce this agreement which will make Voronezh-II the
most advanced tyre production in Russia, superior to many Western producers, and
making our products more competitive to our international rivals," said Victor
Tuluk, General Director of Amtel-Chernozemye.

Within the next several years Amtel-Vredestein will invest over $124 million
into Amtel-Chernozemye. The first delivery of equipment is planned for September
2006, while production is scheduled to start as early as July 2007.  By 2008
Voronezh-II will produce up to 2.5 million tyres a year.
