                              Purchase of Shares



RTL Group today announces that it purchased 83,530 of its own shares on 21
March 2001 at a price of EUR 62.17, and a further 78,470 of its own shares on
22 March 2001 at a price of EUR 60.68. The shares will be held by RTL Group as
treasury stock to cover company share option schemes.
