RTL Group Combines its Technical Services Companies
 
 
Luxembourg, 29 November 2000. - RTL Group is combining its technical
broadcasting services throughout Europe. The new entity integrates the
activities of Luxembourg-based Broadcasting Center Europe (BCE), Cologne
Broadcasting Center (CBC) in Germany, Pearson Television's UK Operations in
London and Video Communication France (VCF) in Paris. Mike Southgate,
currently Managing Director of Pearson Television Operations, has been
appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the combined services.
 
RTL Group's technical centres employ around 1,000 permanent staff and
represented combined sales in excess of Euro 170 million in 1999. They focus
on broadcasting for both television and radio as well as studio and outdoor
production, serving not only RTL Group but a wide range of external clients.
The heads of the regional companies, Luc Wagner (BCE), Alain Flammang (CBC),
Pascal Farcouli (VCF) and Paul Evans (Pearson Television's UK Operations)
will form the management team, which will be based in Luxembourg.
 
Ewald Walgenbach, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of RTL Group said, "Combining

throughout the group. Our broadcasting and production services are in leading
positions in several markets. The combination of these businesses creates the
first pan-European player within this industry. It allows us to optimise the
use of our capacities and meet the needs of the market even more
