Appointment of Chief Operations Officer

5 January 2009: Qualceram Shires plc (the "Group"), a leading manufacturer, and distributor of a wide range of bathroom suites, today
announced the appointment of David Swords as the Group's Chief Operations Officer. His appointment takes place with immediate effect.

Aged 39 David Swords joined the Group in 1992 as Financial Controller. He became Commercial Manager in 1993 and was appointed Company
Secretary in March 1997. He was appointed to the Group board in December 1997 and as Finance Director in September, 1999.

Commenting on the appointment, John O'Loughlin, Group CEO, said: "On behalf of myself and my fellow directors, I wish David every
success in his new role. The Group is facing into a challenging period in 2009 and David will be a key member of the team which will address
those issues to the ultimate benefit of the Qualceram Shires' business and shareholders.

David's duties as Finance Director will be assumed in the short term by Aidan Clince pending the appointment of a permanent replacement.
