Pall Incorporates Revolutionary Technology into Water Treatment Systems

East Hills, NY (01/22/2001) - - Pall Corporation (NYSE: PLL) announced it has
entered a strategic alliance with Pulsar UV Technologies, Inc., a
California-based manufacturer of novel Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection and
oxidation systems. Pall will integrate Pulsar's innovative and patented Pulsed
Blackbody Ultraviolet "PBUVTM" technology into its AriaSM brand membrane-based
water treatment systems, providing customers with unsurpassed protection against
water-borne contaminants.

Water disinfection by UV is a scientifically proven process that kills pathogens
and does not create disinfection by-products, or tastes and odors in drinking
water. UV is proven to kill bacteria, such as E. Coli, viruses and other
pathogens such as chlorine-resistant Cryptosporidium by damaging the DNA
molecule, preventing cellular division and eventually causing the pathogen to
die. The unique high energy levels of the PBUVTM technology provide excellent
inactivation of all pathogens.

Eric Krasnoff, Pall Corporation CEO said, "Multiple barrier protection of our
drinking water provides a needed margin of safety to the public. Pall's growing
line of high performance products will enable water suppliers to reliably and
economically meet increasingly stringent drinking water standards."

Pulsar's PBUVTM systems provide pulsed high-energy blackbody light that radiates
predominately in the deep-ultraviolet range at peak power outputs ranging from 3
million watts to 8 million watts in broadband width ranging from 185 to 400
nanometers. The UV pulses can effectively break down organic matter and trace
contaminants such as MTBE and pesticides in feed waters which reduces the
possibility of producing cancer causing by-products when chlorine is used to
maintain a disinfectant residual in the distribution pipelines. Because the
PBUVTM system provides high irradiance values the lamps are also self-cleaning
without the need for chemical additives or mechanical wipers.

Pall will combine the UV systems with its AriaSM water treatment system. The net
result is a double barrier protection system that reduces more contaminants and
operates at higher flow rates and with less fouling. This assures purer drinking
water at lower operating costs for the municipality.

Jim Bender, Pulsar president and co-founder said, "We see an excellent fit of
our Riptide PBUVTM system with the Pall AriaSM water treatment process. Because
of PBUVTM's unique properties, not only are we able to provide the multiple
barrier protection, we also enhance the filterability of the AriaSM system by
precipitating dissolved iron and manganese and removing trace organics,
ultimately resulting in superior water quality for the customer."

The US Centers for Disease Control estimates that nearly a million Americans
become sick and a thousand die every year from drinking contaminated water.
Those most at risk from waterborne contamination are the very young, the elderly
and immunocompromised patients. While massive outbreaks like the recent
Walkerton, Ontario epidemic or the disastrous Milwaukee, Wisconsin epidemic,
when 400,000 people were infected and over 100 died, make the press, the
majority of illnesses occur in isolated incidents.

These tragic events underscore the fragile nature of drinking water, and the
limitations of older technologies as treatment methods. While chlorination can
"treat" water, advanced membranes remove pathogens and can prevent outbreaks of
waterborne illnesses.

Pall entered the municipal drinking water market four years ago bringing
advanced membrane technology to large municipalities. Membrane filtration
systems are revolutionizing the way drinking water is produced. Pall's AriaSM
brand water treatment systems have proven to be the most practical and
cost-effective solutions to guarantee high quality drinking water. They are also
designed to be easily installed and serviced to meet the current water needs of
small communities for high quality drinking water, and are expandable as the
communities grow.

Pulsar UV Technologies, Inc. was founded to address the market needs for
practical, low cost and effective environmental remediation systems. The
remediation systems developed by Pulsar revolve around a core technology
basically consisting of pulsed, high-energy blackbody light that radiates
predominately in the deep-ultraviolet at peak power levels ranging from
1-million watts to 15-million watts. All systems are portable and provide a
user-friendly operator interface as well as being rugged and capable of
withstanding the most demanding operating environments and applications.
