NORTHERN VENTURE TRUST PLC ("The Company") 
 
PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES AND TOTAL VOTING RIGHTS 
 
The Company announces that on 8 July 2009 it purchased for 
cancellation under an existing authority granted by shareholders 
202,784 C shares of 75p each in the market at a price of 58.5p, 
representing approximately 0.99 per cent of the Company's issued C 
share capital.  There remain 20,409,465 C shares in issue. 
 
In conformity with the  Transparency Directive, the Company  notifies 
the market that  the capital  of the Company  consists of  40,170,808 
ordinary shares with  a nominal value  of 25p each  and 20,409,465  C 
shares with a nominal value of 75p each.  All the shares have  voting 
rights. 
 
The Company  does  not  hold  any ordinary  shares  or  C  shares  in 
treasury. 
 
Therefore, the  total  number of  voting  rights in  the  Company  is 
60,580,273 (the "Figure"). 
 
The Figure  may be  used by  a  shareholder or  other person  as  the 
denominator for the calculations by which he will determine if he  is 
required to notify  the voting  rights he  holds in  relation to  the 
Company, or  a  change  to  those  voting  rights,  under  the  FSA's 
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
