The Company has today received notification from Norwich
Union Investment Management Limited that following a
purchase of 1,050,000 shares the Norwich Union Group
material interest in Hampson Industries PLC is as follows:

Norwich Union Life & Pensions B A/c          5,407,236

This holding represents 4.66 per cent of the issued share
capital of Hampson Industries PLC.

The interests are being disclosed on behalf of Norwich Union
plc (as the ultimate holding company of the Norwich Union
Group of Companies) and the other companies referred to in
the above notice.
