          Substantial Shareholding Notification

The  Company announces that it has received notice  today
that in accordance with the provisions of section 198  of
the Companies Act 1985, Norwich Union plc has an interest
of  14,250,000 ordinary shares of 1p each in the Company,
representing  approximately 5.12% of the issued  ordinary
share  capital of the Company, following its purchase  of
5,200,000 shares on 28 January 2000.
