On 19 November 1999, BICC plc received notice that Norwich Union Investment
Management Limited, on behalf of Norwich Union plc, has a notifiable interest in
40,007,192 ordinary shares of BICC plc, representing 9.49% of the issued
ordinary share capital of BICC plc.

On the same date, BICC plc received notice that Schroder Investment Management
Limited ("Schroders") has increased its notifiable interest in the ordinary
share capital of BICC plc from 54,893,058 ordinary shares and now hold
60,164,444 ordinary shares, representing 14.278% of the issued ordinary share
capital of BICC plc.  Schroders have informed us that these shares are held in
portfolios managed by them on a discretionary basis for clients under investment
management agreements.
