NORWICH UNION GRANTED LICENCE FOR LIFE COMPANY IN POLAND

Norwich Union has been granted a licence by the deputy minister of finance,
Rafal Zagorny to set up a life insurance company in Poland.

The licence covers all five categories of Group 1 insurance products - life
insurance, dowry, life insurance linked with investments, disability
insurance, as well as accident and illness insurance supplementing the other
life insurance types.

The new company will be called Norwich Union Towarzystwo Ubezpieczen na Zycie
S.A. It will complement the existing pensions company - PTE Norwich Union S.A.
- which was founded earlier this year.

Tom Fraser, Norwich Union's managing director, International said: "Poland is
a key market for Norwich Union. We have invested significant effort and
resource into our pension operation and are committed to support the life
operation in a similar manner. We believe that it is capable of achieving
significant market share in Poland."
