NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR AT NORWICH UNION

Keith Jones has been appointed managing director of Norwich Union Investment
Management from 19 October.

An economist by background, Keith (46)has extensive experience of leading an
investment management business, most recently as chief executive of NPI Asset
Management.

Richard Harvey, Norwich Union's group chief executive said: "This appointment
illustrates our commitment to establishing Norwich Union as a leading player
in the investment management market. Keith has a proven track record and is
the right person to lead the high-calibre investment management team we have
built up over the past year."

During his five years at NPI Keith transformed NPI's investment capability
from that of a traditional style investment department of a life office to
that of a stand-alone investment house.

Earlier in his investment management career Keith was a partner at James Capel
and executive director at Lazard Brothers with responsibility for investment
strategy, fixed income and derivatives fund management.

He replaces James Heyworth-Dunne whose departure was announced earlier this
year.
