Director's Declaration

On 4 May 1999, Norwich Union plc confirmed that Patrick Snowball was to be
appointed to the main Board with effect from 1 October 1999, following Albert
Mills' retirement. Patrick Snowball has now taken over as Chief Executive, UK
General Insurance and assumed responsibility for all of NU's UK General
Insurance Business.

In accordance with amendments to the Listing Rules relating to Directors'
declarations, it is confirmed that there are no additional details to be
disclosed under paragraphs 6.F.2 (b) to (g). Patrick Snowball has held no
directorships in any other publicly quoted company at any time in the previous
five years.
