NEW STAR ASSET MANAGEMENT GROUP PLC (the `Company')

The Company has been notified today by Dudley Mark Hewitt Skinner, a director
of the Company, that he has disposed of 310,340 Ordinary shares of 5p each at a
price of 382p per share in the placing announced earlier today. Following this
transaction, Mr Skinner has an interest in 1,241,160 Ordinary shares,
representing 0.42% of the issued share capital of the Company.
