Kimberlite Diamonds Reconnaissance Programme Initiated and Alluvial Diamond
Production under Active Investigation

Dr Tom Elder, President and CEO of Mano River Resources Inc., is pleased to
announce that the Company has commenced a diamond exploration programme in its
510,000 hectare Bea Mountain and Kpo Range Licences in western Liberia. Both
areas are important producers of high quality alluvial diamonds, some of which
have been reported to be in excess of 100 carats. To date, no known source
has been discovered for the alluvial diamonds. Following the completion of a
comprehensive target identification study undertaken for Mano by Professor
Viljoen of the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa, recent field
investigations have concluded that in the areas of Weasua (Kpo Licence) and
Mabong (Bea Licence) local kimberlite sources are likely to be responsible for
the alluvial diamonds. The Company intends immediately to focus exploration
on these two areas through a detailed stream sediment-sampling programme.
Orientation stream samples collected recently yielded visible kimberlitic
indicator minerals from localised drainages which are currently being
extensively mined by artisanal methods. These samples await mineral picking
and confirmation by microprobe. A wider reconnaissance stream sediment
sampling programme will also be initiated over the whole of the two licences,
with an anticipated 500 samples required to cover the entire area and identify
targets for detailed follow up.

In addition to exploration for the primary sources of the alluvial diamonds,
the Company is actively investigating the establishment of a diamond mining
operation in co-operation with local artisans in the Weasua area. This area
has produced diamonds of 131, 103, 87 and 57 carats in the past. Examination
of the mining claims shows that the artisans have not yet removed the gravels
to bedrock, due to the lack of efficient extraction methods and the high water
table. This would indicate that gravels with potentially better grades and
larger stones remain intact. An auger-drilling programme is envisaged to
delineate initial gravel resources that would justify the installation of an
inexpensive 10-ton per hour rotary pan plant operation to undertake evaluation
of selected mining areas. Once the operation is established, Mano would
provide the cooperative with the necessary equipment to enable an operation of
200 tons of gravel to be processed per day. In return, the cooperative would
sell all the production to the Company who would then conduct detailed
valuation studies of the diamonds, the resulting technical and financial data
to be applied to the economic model of the resources. Mano would increase
alluvial production capacity only when the economics of the project have been
fully established through this initial mining exercise.

Mano aims to create shareholder value through the identification, exploration
and development of high quality gold and diamond deposits in the West African
Mano River Union countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. The Company,
having made its pioneering entry into Liberia in 1995, is currently
concentrating its exploration efforts on its extensive licences in the west of
the country, where the principal targets comprise Archaean greenstone
sequences considered comparable to those of the Lake Victoria Gold Province in
Tanzania, together with potentially diamondiferous kimberlites related to the
well-known diamond province in neighbouring Sierra Leone.
