Jourdan plc ("Jourdan" or "the Company") announces that it has
acquired,  in  aggregate, 700,000 ordinary  shares  in  Brooke
Industrial Holdings plc ("Brooke"), representing approximately
9.18 per cent. of Brooke's issued ordinary share capital,  for
an aggregate cash consideration of #571,000.

Brooke  is  a  manufacturer and distributor of cutting  tools,
springs, fasteners and other engineering consumables.   Brooke
is  quoted  on the Official List of the London Stock  Exchange
and is currently capitalised at #5.83 million.

In  the  announcement of interim results for  the  six  months
ended 31 March 1999, Brooke reported a loss before taxation of
#583,000  and had net assets of #9.39 million.   In  the  year
ended  30 September 1998, Brooke made a profit before taxation
of #1.14 million.

Jourdan  has  experience  in the engineering  sector  and  has
acquired the shareholding in Brooke as a long-term investment.
