              DELAY TO FIRST LATERITE ORE SHIPMENT IN PHILIPPINES

Berong Nickel Corporation, in which the Company has an 18.7% interest, has
advised that whilst loading of laterite ore for its first shipment has
commenced, a 72 hour Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) has been placed on the
company by the Governor of Palawan Province, the Hon Joel T Reyes.  The TRO
prevents the company from loading and shipping laterite ore from the coastal
stockpile area.  Mining operations at the mine site have not been impacted.


The company has received legal advice indicating there is no foundation to the
TRO.


Berong Nickel Corporation has all the necessary approvals in place including
environmental approvals and ore transport permits, and holds a Special Mines
Permit issued by the Federal Department of Environment and Natural Resources.


The Company will make a further announcement once further information is
available.
