May 1999 that, as a result of recent sales, as at the
close of business on 17 May 1999 the Prudential
Corporation group of companies had a notifiable
interest in 855,000 ordinary shares of 5p each in
Hydro, representing 6.49% of Hydro's issued ordinary
share capital.

These shares are registered in the name of Prudential
Client (MSS) Nominees Limited a/c PAC.
