             The Hartstone Group PLC ("Hartstone" or "the Company")

                                 Share Buy-Back

The board of Hartstone announce that, pursuant to the passing by shareholders of
the resolution proposed at the Company's Annual General Meeting held on 29
August 2001 authorising the Company to repurchase shares, the Company today
repurchased 2,000,000 ordinary shares of 1p each in the Company at a price of
4.75p pence per share ("the Buy-Back Shares"). The Buy-Back Shares will be
cancelled following the above repurchase thereby reducing the issued ordinary
share capital of the Company to 162,483,594 ordinary shares of 1p each.
