                      Changes in significant shareholdings


CALGARY, April 18th, 2006 - First Calgary Petroleums Ltd. ("FCP" or the 
"Company") announces that it established on April 11th, 2006 that Fidelity
Management & Research Company, Fidelity Management Trust Company and Fidelity
International Limited (together "Fidelity") have decreased their holdings in the
common shares of the Company by 13,712,961 shares during the period from June
30th, 2005 through to March 31st, 2006.  On  April 10th, 2006 Fidelity continued
to hold 11,316,202 common shares of the Company.

FCP further announces that Wellington Management Company, LLP ("Wellington")
advised the Company on April 13th, 2006 that it has increased its holdings in
the common shares of the Company by 2.79% during the period since March 23rd,
2006.  On April 13th, 2006 Wellington held 14,903,900 common shares of the
Company.

FCP is an oil and gas exploration company actively engaged in international
exploration and development activities in Algeria.  The Company's common shares
trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange in Canada (FCP) and on the AIM market of the
London Stock Exchange in the UK (FPL).
