                         THE FUTURE NETWORK APPOINTS

                              COLIN MORRISON AS

                            DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE

The Future Network plc (LSE:FNET), the specialist consumer magazines and
online publisher, today announces that it has appointed Colin Morrison as
Deputy Chief Executive Officer, a newly-created Board role, with effect from
January 2001. His specific responsibilities will include Future's
international development and licensing, reporting to Greg Ingham, Future's
Group Chief Executive.

Colin Morrison, 49, is currently Chief Executive of the international
operations of German media group Axel Springer, responsible for newspapers and
magazines in six European countries and TV interests in the US.

Commenting on the appointment Future's Chief Executive Greg Ingham says:

"I believe that Colin has an unrivalled track record at senior levels in a
variety of international media businesses - Reed, EMAP, ACP and Axel Springer.
So he's the perfect guy to help us drive Future's business forward yet more
strongly, and to broaden our senior management team.

"At the start of 1999, Future had businesses in the UK and France. Now, by
contrast, we also operate out of the US, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and
Poland, with more locations planned - hence this new role.

"The opportunities facing us are significant and exciting, including the
international launch of Official Xbox Magazine which has been described as,
"The biggest international magazine launch the world has ever seen"*. Such
opportunities need a combination of great experience, managerial expertise and
sheer determination to ensure we capitalise upon them. We very much look
forward to working with Colin on developing Future further."

Prior to his time at Axel Springer Colin spent four years as Chief Executive
of Sydney-based Australian Consolidated Press, the Kerry Packer-controlled
media group that is the largest magazine publisher in the AsiaPacific region.
During that period ACP launched 13 new magazines. He was on the board of ACP's
parent company, Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd., and for three years was also
Chairman of Magazine Publishers of Australia.

Before his move to Sydney Colin spent four years as CEO of Emap Business
Communications Division and sat on the board of Emap Plc until December 1995,
having previously served as Deputy CEO of what is now Reed Business
Information, following 11 years managing a range of Reed International
operations.

He started his media career as a journalist on newspapers and magazines in
London, New York and Dublin, specialising variously in entertainment, music,
shipping and energy.

Commenting on his appointment Colin says: "I'm thrilled to be joining one of
the world's most exciting media companies at what is so obviously a pivotal
time in its development."
