FORD MOTOR COMPANY LIMITED AND JARDINE MOTORS GROUP PLC IN DISCUSSION
CONCERNING A UK JOINT VENTURE AND A POSSIBLE BID BY THE JOINT VENTURE FOR
DAGENHAM MOTORS GROUP PLC

Ford Motor Company Limited ("Ford") and Jardine Motors Group plc ("Jardine"),
the UK motor retailing subsidiary of Jardine International Motor Holdings
Limited, are in discussions concerning the establishment of a motor retailing
joint venture in the UK (the "Joint Venture").  The discussions regarding a
collaboration between Ford and Jardine have reached an agreement in principle.
If the Joint Venture is ultimately confirmed, it will comprise the
Jardine-owned Ford dealerships in the UK which currently trade primarily as
Polar Motor Group Limited and BPW Group Limited.

Ford and Jardine note the recent rise in the Dagenham Motors Group plc
("Dagenham Motors") share price and confirm that one option under
consideration is a possible offer for Dagenham Motors by the Joint Venture. 
The formation of the Joint Venture may or may not lead to any offer being made
for Dagenham Motors.

A further announcement will be made in due course.
