DOBBIES GARDEN CENTRES PLC ("Dobbies" or "the Company")



On 8 March 2002 the Company announced that T.J.K. Barnes (Director) and J.H.
Trotter (Director) had each exercised options for 120,000 ordinary shares of 10p
each.


Primarily in order to fund the acquisition price of the option and pay the tax
due thereon, T.J.K. Barnes (Director) and J.H. Trotter (Director) sold 85,000
and 74,000 ordinary shares of 10p each at a price of 442p respectively on 11
March 2002.


As a result, the undernoted directors' holdings in the ordinary shares of 10p in
the Company are as follows:
