                     Appointment of Non-Executive Director


Carpetright plc, Europe's leading specialist carpet and floor coverings
retailer, announces that it has appointed Geoff Brady as a non-executive
director with immediate effect.

Geoff Brady, 53, has had a career of over 25 years in the retail sector
including CEO - Allied Carpets plc, MD - Daimler Chrysler, Retail UK and
Commercial Director - Superdrug plc. Until recently he was a Deputy Chairman of
Matalan and a non-executive director of Floors-2-Go, prior to both companies'
return to private ownership. He is currently a non-executive director of
Biofuels Corporation plc and Saul D. Harrison & Sons plc.

Lord Harris of Peckham, Chairman & Chief Executive commented: "Geoff is a highly
experienced retailer whose skills will be of great benefit to Carpetright as we
continue to implement our growth strategy. I am delighted to welcome him to the
Board."

There are no additional details relating to Geoff Brady's appointment that are
