CLIPPER VENTURES PLC (CLV): CLIPPER 05-06 ROUND THE WORLD YACHT RACE UPDATE


Clipper Ventures Plc today issued an update on its Clipper 05-06 Round the World
Yacht Race. The AIM listed company has now secured over #8.5 million in income
for the race with further deals still to be announced.


The latest race sponsor to be secured was the Qingdao Municipal Government who
will be entering a 'Qingdao Clipper' yacht into the prestigious Clipper 05-06
Round the World Yacht Race.


Mr Zhu, General Office Director for the Committee (Qingdao) of Beijing
Organising Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, said: "Qingdao is
immensely proud of being the first and only Chinese boat entry in this Race.  As
the Olympic Sailing centre for Beijing 2008, we look forward to welcoming the
entire Clipper fleet here for a stopover in February 2006. "


The Chinese entry will face strong competition from a formidable international
field as both Victoria BC, Canada, and New York, USA, have also announced that
they will each sponsor one of the ten yacht entries in the competitive event,
which sets sail on Sunday, 18 September 2005 from Liverpool (UK).


The other yacht sponsors are race title defenders Jersey (Channel Islands),
Liverpool (UK), Durban (South Africa), Fremantle (Western Australia), Singapore
and Glasgow (Scotland).


The newly announced deals take the total contracted income, including both
sponsorship and crew fees, for the Clipper 05-06 Race to over #8.5 million.


Chairman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston commented: "We are very pleased with the
current trading situation as despite having already achieved a five-fold
increase in sponsorship income, we are still in ongoing negotiations with
further interested parties.  With these three latest cities now board we have
the potential to generate additional sponsorship revenue from commercial
partners within those countries."
