Country Gardens plc ("the Company") announces that Beacon
Garden Centres Limited, as trustees of the Country
Gardens Employee Benefit Trust ("the Trust"), purchased
15,000 Ordinary shares in the Company on 8 October 1998
at a price of 161 pence per share.
 
The Trust holds the shares as trustees for the Country
Gardens plc Executive Long Term Incentive Scheme and
these shares are held to cover potential commitments of
the scheme.
