Capital Radio increases its commercial lead in London
31st January 2002
Capital Radio recorded the following results in the latest RAJAR report
(Wave 4, 2001):
In London each of the Group's radio stations saw its reach rise in a
highly competitive marketplace increasing its lead against its nearest
commercial competitor group.
- 95.8 Capital FM gained 50,000 listeners, rising to 2,951,000 with its
share stable at 10.9%. Its reach in the key 15 to 44 market increased by 60,000
to 2,376,000.
- Capital Gold London increased its reach to 12% (11% Wave 3, 2001) with
share of 3.1% (3.2% Wave 3, 2001).
- Xfm's number of listeners increased to 450,000 (443,000 Wave 3, 2001)
whilst share was 1.3% (1.5% Wave 3, 2001).
The Capital FM Network's reach was 30% (31% Wave 3, 2001) with market
share at 12.4% (13.0% Wave 3, 2001).
In the regions Century 106 saw its reach rise to 17% (16% Wave 3, 2001)
and Century 105 increased its reach to 14% (13% Wave 3, 2001). In the North East
Century 100-102's reach held steady at 24% with its share rising to 10.4% (10.2%
Wave 3, 2001).
