BTR SIEBE MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENTS

BTR plc and Siebe plc announce the following BTR Siebe management
appointments.  All will report directly to Jim Mueller, BTR Siebe's Chief
Operating Officer, and will become effective immediately upon completion of
the merger which is anticipated to be 3 February, 1999.

George Sarney - Division Chief Executive Intelligent Automation
Responsible for the following businesses:
APV, Field Measurement and Control, Flow Control, Foxboro, Rail Systems, Siebe
Intelligent Building systems (SIBS), Wonderware.  

Bruce Henderson - Division Chief Executive Controls
Responsible for the following businesses:
Appliance Controls, Climate Controls, Fasco Motors, Sensors and Aerospace,
Metering Systems.

Jim Swenson - Division Chief Executive Industrial Drive Systems and Equipment
Responsible for the following businesses:
Brook Hansen, CompAir, Environmental, Paper Technology, Pneumatics, Rexnord.

Tom Gutierrez - Division Chief Executive Power Systems
Responsible for the following businesses:
Batteries, Exide Electronics, Lambda Electronics, Nemic Lambda, Proner
Comatel, Teccor.

John Thompson - Division Chief Executive Automotive
Responsible for the following businesses:
BTR Automotive, Siebe Automotive.

Philip Cox - Vice President Operational Planning
Responsible for planning and co-ordinating major improvement programmes across
the five divisions including the identification and implementation of
synergistic benefits, the analysis and effectiveness of these initiatives and
the development of appropriate monitoring tools.
