                               Commences Trading on AIM

Ballarat Goldfields NL (BGF), an Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) listed company,
advises that its ordinary shares and listed September 2005 options have today
been admitted to trading on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange.

As previously announced, the dual-listing on AIM was undertaken in order to
attract additional offshore investors and provide added flexibility and
liquidity to BGF's UK and European based shareholders. RFC Corporate Finance Ltd
is acting as BGF's nominated advisor and Numis Securities Ltd is acting as BGF's
broker in relation to the AIM listing.

London is a global financial hub and the London Stock Exchange, comprising the
Main Board market for larger companies and the AIM market specifically tailored
for growing businesses, is the largest exchange by capitalisation for mining
shares worldwide.

Institutional investors based in the United Kingdom and parts of Europe have
been significant participants in BGF's recent capital raisings and BGF is
receiving increasing interest from such investors as it progresses its Ballarat
Gold Project towards production. The AIM listing will help attract and
facilitate investment in BGF by these investors.

Existing holders wishing to trade their ordinary shares (ASX & AIM Code: BGF) or
listed options (ASX & AIM Code: BGFO) on AIM need to first transfer their
holding to BGF's UK share registry. This is a simple process requiring an
appropriate account to be set up with an AIM broker and notification to be given
to your Australian broker (for broker sponsored CHESS holdings) or BGF's
Australian share registry (for issuer sponsored holdings).
