Barclays Capital, the investment-banking arm of Barclays PLC (BCS), added four more analysts to its Latin America equity research team, as the firm looks to expand its reach within the region.

Felipe Mattar will be director of utilities and oil companies, while Michel Morin will join as director of the telecommunications and media sectors.

Mattar joins Barclays from Citigroup, and Morin comes from Merrill Lynch.

Henrique Caldeira is to be assistant vice president responsible for coverage of non-bank financial companies while Leonardo Correa will join as assistant vice president for metals and mining companies. Both most recently worked at Credit Suisse.

The team will report to Roberto Attuch Jr., who was named head of Latin America equity research in March.

The hirings are part of Barclay's effort to ramp up its equities sales, trading and research presence in Latin America. In recent months, the firm has announced the hiring of several management positions and more are expected to be added as the bank looks to push into Mexico, Brazil and Chile.
