announcement on its behalf.

NOTICE OF REDEMPTION

The Board of Directors of Coats Patons Limited announces that the Company has
given notice that the whole of the principal moneys owing on the above Stock
will be repaid at par on 30 June 2002, together with any interest that has
accrued thereon from 1 January 2002 to 30 June 2002 inclusive.

The Stock register will finally close at close of business in London on 21 June
2002 (the "Record Time"). No transfers will be registered after the Record Time.

The moneys due in respect of the Stock will be paid by way of cheque, to those
persons registered as Stockholders as at the Record Time, or to their order.
Stockholders should advise the Company's Registrar, Capita IRG Plc, Balfour
House, 390-398 High Road, Ilford, Essex IG1 1NQ in writing before the Record
Time if they require the cheque to be sent to an address that is not on the
Stock register.
